Let Us Go Shopping In Michigan
Long before there were shopping malls, there were downtown districts where you could buy everything. Now times have changed but many town centers continue to attract crowds by cultivating unique shopping experiences featuring independent and one-of-a-kind stores, galleries, specialty shops and restaurants, cafes, pubs, wine bars, nightspots and theaters. Special events and concerts and attractive landscaping and architecture also add to the appeal of these gathering places. Michigan, especially most of it's metropolitan areas, like Detroit, have dozens of shopping centers that you can take a luxury sedan or limo to when visiting. Here are just a few in the Detroit metro area:
GM Renaissance Center
GM Renaissance Center, a 5.5 million square foot print on Detroit's riverfront, encompasses four, 39-story office towers and the 1,298-room Detroit Marriott hotel. The adjacent Millender Center features 339 luxury apartments and a 265-room Courtyard by Marriott. Both hotels have recently completed major renovations. The new GM Wintergarden, a five-story glass-enclosed atrium overlooks the Detroit River and includes two levels of inviting retail and restaurant space. Other new attractions of GM Renaissance Center's $500 million redevelopment program include GM World, a showcase for GM vehicles and specialty cars, a 1,100-seat food court, enhanced parking facilities and a street-level financial services area as part of the offerings of RenCen Shops.
