Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I am detained at the Windsor border crossing?

While most of our transfers to or from Windsor occur without incident, passengers are occasionally detained by immigration or customs inspection officers. Should a Checker Sedan or van be held for detention and the officer wants our driver to remain with the passenger, our service will automatically switch over to hourly service. In some cases, the drivers are released leaving the passenger at the inspection facility. In this case, the passenger is still responsible for payment of our service.

In Windsor, you can call Canadian Checker Cab at 519-254-7777 to continue your journey. If in Detroit, call 313-963-7000 for a Checker Cab to assist you. Finally, inquiries regarding group detainments by motor coaches should be directed to our Safety & Security Director

Both our sedan drivers and our motor coach drivers are required to ensure each passenger has their proof of citizenship with them prior to the start of our service.

Do you offer limousine service?

While stretch limousines are the only type of vehicle not included in our fleet, we recommend and refer all inquiries to the Great Lakes Limousine Association (GLLA) who ensures that every member is properly licensed, inspected and insured. Checker Sedan is a proud member of the GLLA.
